ISS Observation

Recommended Posts

SWMBO bought me an eyepiece set the other day (the Celestron one) so I tested out the the 32mm eyepiece on the 16" Lightbridge and it did a pretty good job - anyway as the ISS was sailing past I thought I would try and observe it - well it worked. Very bright but the I could make out the shape of the ISS and could clearly see the solar panels - very cool view. Well worth giving it a go but you have to be very quick with moving the scope!

Ian, I tried a while ago with my 8" on an HEQ5 and it was very difficult to get in the FOV - only fleeting glimpses. I posted this little vid of the view at the same time taken through an ST80 piggy backed on the 8":

It was very much easier with the dob, especially when the ISS is quite high.

cheers
