M42 & Running Man Nebula Atik Infinity OSC

Whilst out looking out for The Taurids , captured this image of M42 & M43 . Atik Infinity OSC camera ( around ) 250 secs exposure . Altair Astro 72 ED scope. Processed in Pixinsight ( beginner )...Regards  Alan.

Nice. is this a single image or stacked?

If you want more detail in the core of m42, you can try hdrmultiscaletransform with standard settings after stretching. this tool can work wonders on m42. No need to combine multiple exposures.

As long as the unstretched (linear) image isn't blown out, you can reveal lots of detail with the tools in PixInsight. As long as the data is safe on a hard disk, you can always reprocess it when you learn more.
