Bahtinov Mask with or without dew shield?

Evening all,

Probably a very easy answer for most, but on my ES 80ED it has a removable dew shield.  Is it best to focus with the Bahtinov mask on the front of the shield, or remove it (1 thumb screw) or does it make no difference at all?

I always used to use my Lord Mask (similar to Bahtinov) on the end of the dew shield for my 102SLT. Don't know if it makes any difference, but it certainly worked that way.

I always hang mine on the dew shield, doesn't make much difference to be honest.

On my 150PL the dewmask sits over a metre from the mirror and works fine - does that answer your question? :-)

This is the same really as with a built in dew shield on most refractors, so doesn't make any difference really as long as it can be held on OK.

I have been doing it on the dew shield, and it has been fine, but wanted to make sure I was doing it right from the get go, rather than kicking myself for not asking later down the road.
