Hi Andrea and welcome to SGL. reference has been made to the York group, it is a large club, who hold their meetings in the City, have a well fitted out obsy, located on the old WW2 airfield at Rufforth which is now owned by the York Glider Club, enjoy the forum

Hi Andrea. Welcome to SGL. The York Astronomical society are a very friendly group. They hold lots of observing meets. I'm sure they would love for you to join in. I've been to a couple of the meetings. They have a wide range of members who are very knowledgeable in lots of different areas of astronomy. Observers, imagers, radio astronomy, spectrography. You'll find they're all willing to help. And they're a good laugh!
