Hi,

I'm Michael,  I'm new to all this but after watching a lot of documentaries on the universe I've became very interested in our night sky's.  Hoping to get some advice on here so that I don't waste money on a useless telescope.

Hello Michael, welcome to the site.

Why not start with getting a pair of binoculars, e.g. 10x50. That is a small investment and you can start observing with it. Later when you have a telescope, a pair of binoculars still comes in handy from time to time. I use mine very often, although I have 2 telescopes.

Hello and welcome.

I joined SGL this year and everyone is welcoming and helpful.

Ask whatever you need to ask, however silly you think it sounds, because if you don't know something the question is not silly at all.

I started with a few basic books, bare eyes and then binoculars.

First scope was bought a couple of years later and only replaced this year (18years) after the first.

Again welcome. ?
