Ugly spots on my new SW 120ED front lens ????

It's truly amazing the number of odd uses it's come to be used for. Rust-removal is one. But the 'Bull-Goose' Prize-Winner is it's being used for people with arthritis! Yes - sprayed all over the person's leg (in one case I read) as often as the person wanted to. This even made it's way into the New England Journal of Medicine - which said it wouldn't hurt you - but stopped-short of recommending it! Perhaps the NE-JoM was playing to the 'Placebo' effect? Who knows.....

As for rust, I found it worked for that (somewhat). But I also noted that the rust returned again and again - much more often than if using something truly labeled as being for removing rust. I think another use for WD40 is to cloud people's minds. :p

Dave, I have noted with interest your observations on WD40, I have found it most useful for coating garden tools/machinery (after cleaning ) to keep the cutting edges from rusting, during their intermittent use; during Spring Summer and Autumn. After a final clean for Winter storage, a coating of old engine oil keeps the equipment in good condition, as WD40, as you say, will not prevent rust returning in the log run :)

I don't know if it's an urban myth but I have heard that pub landlords spray it on surfaces in toilets etc to prevent naughty boys and girls snorting what they shouldn't, causes nose bleeds apparently. If true it's just another use for this truly amazing fluid.

I don't know what type of establishments you may know about or frequent?.  But this is new to me and I am sure the SGL membership frequent a lot more reputable drinking establishments?
