Double cluster with a DSLR

Recommended Posts

Not really good enough for some proper imaging last night, but it was ok enough for testing something. So I popped the DSLR on the 200pds and went looking for star clusters instead.

I settled on this one eventually, and left it running with short subs for about 90min until the sky became unuseable. No calibration as such, just a touch of DBE for vignetting and the use of a clone brush to tidy up a couple of dust motes. It turned out slightly better than I expected (for the quality of sky we had).

I think this is a very nice example and have a very clean look, and the best bit it's your image and your timeframe of the sky and you're never see that ever again.

It was a nice little interlude while working on he Cygnus mosaic (another two panels since added), I might get out again tonight but it cant be a late one since I have to be up early tomorrow for the family trip down to Greenwich.
