SGLXII - Which scopes are you bringing?

Recommended Posts

I have seen a couple of discussions breaking out on the forum about which scopes to take to SGLXII so perhaps it is time for the customary thread?

On the assumption that we are going to have sunny days and clear nights I plan to bring:

  1. Solar
    • Altair Starwave 152 with my Quark
    • Skywatcher Evostar 150 with my Baader Wedge
    • Lunt 50 Ha
  2. Dark sky
    • Orion Optics VX12 1/10pv F4 Dob
    • Celestron C11
    • Orion Optics VX6L 1/12pv F8 Newt
    • Skywatcher ED120

The scopes will be mounted on an AZ-EQ6 or Tele Optic Ercole.

I think this is what @Stu describes as "Minimalist Observing"

So, what are you bringing?

Sounds like no one else needs to bring anything at all...

You should have seen what Derek brought to SGL XI..... This list is very minimalistic in comparison :hello:

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend this event as I have other plans.

would really like to get close to Derek's 152 Starwave

You would be more than welcome to pop along and try to give her a hug but I'm not entirely sure you're her type, Garry

More seriously, you are more than welcome to try it out

If I'm right in what I think the scope can do, getting close up will be easy. Trying to convince you to put her on the for sale ads may be more difficult ! Thanks for the invite will defiantly take you up on it.

Now, I'm also looking for. 350 flexitube with tracking.

( This is what it comes to when the nearest Astro store is some 120 miles away from where I live).

The pitches at Lucksall are of a very generous size

Oh, I forgot to mention that I will also be taking my Canon 15x50 IS Bins

I see you amended the title at long last :hello:

I was concerned that Derek intended to soak his scopes in salty water so thought it best I changed the title ;)

As for scopes, I'll bring pretty much everything I have, space dependent.

Tak FC-100D

C9.25

Orion Optics VX6L f11 1/10th wave

TAL Alkor 65mm Light Thimble ;)

Vixen GP Mount

Giro-WR

EQ Platform

Baader Herschel Wedge

Should be fun, hope we get some decent skies. Fingers crossed, we've been pretty lucky recently.

My OO UK 12" mirror has been soaking in brine since I bought it. Isn't that what I was supposed to do? :dontknow:

thanks for for the fix, Stu

Stu - joking?

Certainly not! Amusing, of course, but in all sincerity befitting this solemn occasion.

(Mustn't encourage them to prove a point, dear...)

:happy11:

You really should come along. Paul certainly puts the 'camp' in camping with his lovely tent ;)
