My set up in action tonight in the communal area behind my flat where I set up normally. My Skymax 127 az gti for some lunar imaging, still waiting for my black box for the laptop dew sheild so trying to get the imaging in before the dew sets in. The tripod is at its lowest position tonight as it is quite windy at times here and gives less vibration this way, I normally have it full extension when no wind.

What appeared to be a promising evening has turned out poor. Not a cloud in the sky all day & clear when I put the scopes out earlier. Light cloud covering wondered in at around 7.45 to spoil the session. Promising clear evenings for the next 4-5 days, hopefully 🤞

A few of Florence who is out for a run around tonight. Just a lunar session most likely, maybe a few doubles later. The cloud seems to have cleared, but the seeing is quite variable. Still, nice to see Schröter’s valley again.

I was using my Nag Zooms earlier but then fiddled around with binoviewers for a while until I got them working at high power, much better views, far fewer floaters!

Second little session in a week, tonight! In fact not many more for the whole of the last 12 months. Anyway...

The Skytee 2, with a Bresser 127L and the little 72EDF as a finder! I cannot make up my mind about the 127L, there is some CA, but not as bad as I imagined possible, a contrast booster filter sorted it, but left everything looking a little odd in another way. The Skytee 2 handled the scope just fine, better than it did the Bresser 102L the other night. That is lighter, but even longer at F13.2 and the clutch only just held things steady, with the longer scope. If I do decide to keep the scopes and mount, I will need to adjust things a bit I think. Certainly much longer, more flexible slo mo cables will be a must! At least vibration was minimal.

The Altair 72EDF is a really good scope and handled magnification better than the 127L, I think. I also had a proper trial of the 7mm Delite, comparing it directly to the 7mm OVL Nirvana. I am not sure it is that much better... I think I have a lot to think about.

Good session tonight on the C8 and Hyperstar with the QHY8.  The plate solving in SGP is working a treat with ASTAP. Spent a couple of hours on the Horsehead and now closing out the night on the Flaming Star Nebula.  It is meant to be clear tomorrow night as well...

Single 30 sec shot. Demonstrating my AMOLED ODA (Observer's Digital Assistant, a.k.a. dedicated smartphone) screen with the DSO Planner star chart in night mode against the Bortle 2 sky (focused on the screen).

The ODA is standing on top of my z12 focuser. Aquila tail and Scutum is above it. Behind my capuche is Mars, which is obviously brighter than Galaxies' symbols on the screen (brightest red ellipses).

I bought this Table yesterday for £12, reduced from £40! Well chuffed :D It's absolutely ideal for astro.

It's a High Gear camping table, on sale at Go Outdoors if anyone is interested.

I look forward to the "Show us your patio pots" thread. I will have plenty to contribute 😁

As you say Stu, a stunning clear Friday night what more could we ask for.

Just had a look at the seven sisters through the refreshments with the 17.5mm Morpheus.. The veiw is simply stunning.

In the process of shooting Melotte 15 in Ha. First real light for this setup (actually first light was last night but had serious differential flexure issues) subs are looking good tonight so fingers crossed for a full 4 hours data 🤞

Target now behind house but got 2 hours of Ha data on the Rosette nebula. Now packing up and generating the calibration frames in the warm. Oh, and dropping my laptop in the process 🙈. Thankfully it seems to be working still.
