Thats dark?  I wont complain about the darkness we have here anymore lol

Not quite as dark as it got, but not a million miles from it.  56°N here so not a huge amount of night for now.  Its a night mode from my pixel 6 which is pretty good at lightening the sky.

Might risk it for a biscuit tonight.  I remembered earlier that my 130pds and superview 30mm should be able to squeeze in the entirety of the veil and I might be able to see it from my garden if I setup in the weeds.

M101 was at Zenith- hard to zero in with starsense and as expected- vain hope of spotting it (anything) with a 6” scope from London skies. Oh well. Moon and Venus were very decent though. Trying out my new focuser- lovely :)

Hi,

I also hope to take a few pics of the M101 with its supernova.

Tonight it's a test if a new child in the family: new ZWO OAG with a helical focuser, new ZWO filter drawer and already owned ASI 120MM mini and IDAS LPS-P2. Of course, ASI 2600MC-Pro is there as well.

Recently discovered excellent cooperation of my OnStep controller (based on the FYSETC S6 v.2.1 board) with the ASIair Plus constantly impresses me - it's 1280mm focal length put on top of the home-made mount. 😳 Or is the mount so good? 🤔

P.S.. The Evoguide and ASI 224MC is there just in case of poor guiding by the OAG, warm and ready.

After a 5 day family visit, we are alone again now and it's looking good for a (all too rare recently) look at the moon a bit later..

Trinity the FS128 out cooling under a just-past-1st quarter moon, loaded with Maxbright IIs and a pair of Meade 4000 32mm and Tak Ortho 12.5mm..no barlow or OCS needed to get focus..

Not a great photo of a nice moon showing off to the 100mm refractor. I won't try and capture what the Pentax XW 3.5mm is showing because I know that an image won't do it justice either. I'll stick to observing 🙂

My "medium-large" setup - the 12" f/5 Hofheim Instruments traveldob  (with added counterweight) on the EQ platform, ready for observing the third-quarter moon this evening:

It's always stored in the shed at ambient temperature, so very convenient to carry out and observe within minutes. The sturdy  astro chair adds to the comfort.

I will title this image seconds from disaster...

Very light up here the now and couldn't get sufficient stars to polar align until about 23:30, however the mount had a dodgy zero position lodged in it from the last time I used it so when I asked it to slew to Vega, it slewed to try and look at the core of the earth, fortunately I was sat beside the mount before anything collided.  Managed to figure out the issue, but by then the clouds had arrived.

Still, not a complete waste.  Setup was very quick as I've adopted @Elp technique of having everything ready to go, just move the mount, pop the imaging rig on and connect a couple cables.  defo a winner that.

The imaging rig is a good thing, I also have one based on my Altair 102EDT and Evoguide. But another setup based on already owned gear is just tested...

Yeah, this is the new setup based on old stuff. Not bad, if we take into account that it's OAG @ 1284mm fl and over 18kg OTA with accessories.

I really like the CGX together with ASIair Plus. :)

Maybe I don't have the best views and unlimited horizon around, but I don't have the too strong wind as well. :) Also, I have two extra counterweights from EQ5! :D
