M3 under not-so-optimal circumstances...

After a rainy day, the air was filled with moisture. Add some disturbing moonlight and you come up with the following image of M3. William Optics 11cm f/6.5 apo and Atik 16HR. Total exposure time was only 24 minutes... Better next time !

I dont think that you have got a bad image of M3 there Peter even with moonglow and moisture......

Your image may benefit from a darker background though......It would highlight your subject more and get rid of the marks in the image.....

Its a nice capture either way

I don't mind at all, John. Thanks for the post processing! The darker background makes the image nicer, but also makes some of the fainter outer parts of M3 disappear. It's always difficult to make a choice.

Darkening the background and then stretching the image a tad should help preserve the detail in M3
