spillage
Hi, Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on the Meade Zoom 8mm-24mm Series 4000 07199-2 Japan ep. I have seen one for sale for £60 but not too sure if it is either any good or worth the money. Also found a Williams Optics Zoom one for about the same price. cheers Spill. rwilkey
Hi Spill, welcome to the forum! Both zooms you mention are good quality, however, I think the William Optics one has the edge. The s/h price is about right, I find astronomy equipment is usually about two thirds of the cost of new, which is the case here. Good luck! robhatherton
I have a BST Starguider zoom which I bought from Skys the Limit who trade through ebay. It appears to be a clone of the Celestron 8-24. I find it perfectly acceptable and sharp across the whole zoom range. Given that zooms have a narrower field of view and most people don't use them exclusively I wouldn't feel the need to pay a lot more for one. rwilkey
The BST zoom is a rebadged GSO, just like the Celestron and Sky Watcher counterparts.
