Which model of ms lifecam do people recommend for modifying for astro usage?

Hi Romx,

I modified an xbox cam which was quite easy. The main difficulty was getting it in focus on the laptop using my 200p on a dobson base, Pretty hard. I never looked back though once I purchased a DSLR.

If I started all over again I wouldn't bother with a modified cam unless it was used in conjunction with a motorised tracking mount setup.

I intend to get a second telescope for imaging with a motorized mount and im looking at DSLR cameras at the moment

I think you would be better off with a Philips Toucam really, or the slightly newer SPC900nc, can pick them up at a reasonable price on ABS

That model - I'm nothing to do with that link.  Once you've taken it apart the inside circle fits nicely inside an 1.25" tube with some tape - so its perfect for our astro needs.
