Nice story. Nothing profound to offer, but sometimes I recall the observation
that romance is a bit like "elephants in a circus ring"! We endlessly cling to the
tail of (pursue) the one in front of us. But sometimes it pays to look back? 

She sounds a fairly exceptional young woman. And idem the man himself.
