16 bit mode will be slower and will force SER. For planetary use small subframe (ROI) to record fast.

Cheers Rik, yep sussed that now flicking between the two bit depths.

I guess I shall order the SSD & cloning caddy.

Note that exposures in general won't be short enough to allow more than like 100-120 FPS ;)

Yup but looks like it's going to be a lot better than my DMK was.

This is a better log file.

Have now got the Samsung 1TB EVO SSD to go in the lappy, while it's at the shop to be fitted (no little panel on this laptop to do an easy swap over or for ram) I have asked if it's possible for the RAM to be upgraded to 16Gb as well.

All we need now is some sun :icon_biggrin:

I have two of the Samsung 1TB Pro EVO SSDs. One in a Samsung I3  Laptop and one in a water cooled 4 core Q6700 PC I built several years ago. The PC start time reduced from over 5 minutes down to 50 seconds and the laptop did some thing similar. Power usage is reduced as well, important in the laptop. Hope you see similar results.
