Daylight Jupiter

Observing Jupiter in daylight, thanks to the Wixey! Nice GRS transit. Seeing a bit wobbly, but shouldn't complain! Nice to see it against a blue background !

I've been doing the same - no Wixey but Jupiter was not too difficult to find in relation to the moons position.

The contrast of the belts and GRS was really good with some light still left in the sky

I'd never have found it without the Wixey, as it wasn't visible when I first found it. Feels like you're cheating when you see it in daylight!

I have found it in daylight a few times as I was using a goto that is always setup and awaiting darkness, so far though I have only ever done this using the Meade 12 inch.

This is great Bart! I do this too once twilight comes and use the Baader single polarizer to help things along. Beg, borrow or steal one to try!

Thanks Jetstream, what exactly does it do? What appears in the eyepiece? Don't know where I'd get my hands on one for a quickie look!

As you rotate the eyepiece with the polarizer attached it will darken the "sky" and enhance the contrast on Jupiter. I use it frequently for this use and on the moon in daylight. Its effect fades as darkness approaches. Try one if you can Bart, the single polarizer, not the "double" IMHO.
