Interested in getting one for the Ed100 but can anyone tell me are they that much better than a simple solar film, front mounted version please.

In my experience, yes they are a step up from solar film. There is more detail visible and generally you can use higher magnification, and see features like faculae and granulation more clearly providing the seeing can take it of course.

I'd say so. Try mine in your scope if you like :icon_biggrin:

Another mate of mine has one, hoping to get a look through it later this week but thanks for the offset all the same, very decent of you  ASD always :-)

The only solar film I observed through was with a C8 during the solar eclipse on 11 Aug '99. Very nice view from Austria, but I don't remember that time I had similar views to what I now get with my 60mm plus Lunt plus a simple green filter...

I love my Lunt solar wedge!
