Mid Wales Meeting Saturday 9th April

Asteroid Mining.

Newtown Astronomy Society, this month, brings you the return of Francisco Sánchez as our guest speaker.

After arranging for the International Space Station to do a flyby after his last talk (you had to be there), he will tell us about asteroid mining and how some companies are planning to obtain valuable resources from asteroids.

On top of this, a “Telescope Surgery”. If you are having difficulty using your own equipment, bring it along and get some help and advise with how to get the best from it. Contact me before bringing it though.

Along with the usual “What’s on?” Discussions, coffee and biscuits, this should be a great mix for an entertaining and useful night out, and with people who all have similar interests.

Saturday 9th April, 7.00pm at Treowen Community Hall.

At the McDonalds junction, take the Kerry road, over the railway bridge and take the last right just before you leave Newtown for the countryside.

Go up the hill into the Treowen housing estate. After the road levels off, there is a school on the right with a lay-by outside. The community hall is opposite the entrance to the school.

SY16 1NL for your Sat Navs.

For more information, join our Facebook page or contact Brandon at brandonlane@waitrose.com .

I wonder if Francisco is arranging an “asteroid” flyby?? Hmmm
