Mount not moving - help!

Hi,

I have an HEQ5, and the powerlight is still on. When I connect the SynScan handset it says initialising, but and it will say it is slewing (according to the handset). However the mount does not move at all - I can not hear the motors turning. No error is reported, and I do have the clutches engaged. I can't think what it might be or to check. If the motor board was faulty I would expect there to be an error, but everything looks fine according to the handset. Any ideas ?

They are very, very quiet - I recall thinking the same about the EQ6 I had, but it was working.

Try it on the night sky with the clutches engaged.

At the slowest slew rate the movement is almost unnoticeable. To increase the slew rate press button 2 and then button 9 for the maximum slew rate.

When it says it's slewing and it actually is, terrestrial objects should move noticeably in a high power eyepiece. Have you checked that?

Worth having a look to see if the motor connectors are still connected to the mainboard, in the past mine have be caught by the hole for the polarscope as it rotates.

Yep loose wire connecting to motor board -  infuriating to find - but fixed now - thanks all !
