Looking for a cheap manual scope that I can use just for solar obs. .....anyone have any opinions on the seben 700-76?

although I have never used a seben, the general concensus on this and other astro forums is to stay well clear. do a search on this forum for seben

I owned a Seben "Big boss" not a great scope to be honest! I would go for a Skywatcher, you could probably get a bigger and better 2nd hand one than the new Seben.

Maybe a skywatcher heritage 100P for a solar scope?

I would not purchase a Seben scope. I have heard nothing but bad reports about them. Look at some of the Skywatchers fracs and remember you will have to purchase a safe solar filter which will fit over the objective lens. Never use an eye piece filter. They are totally unsafe.
