Commanderfish
I need a longer set of screws (about 25-30mm) to attach my new dovetail plate to my ES ED 127 tube rings. The screws are 1/4" but the threads are wider than anything they seem to have at B&Q. Anyone know what type of threads/bolts these are and where I can get them? As an added complication I could really do with the heads being shorter so I can slide my Baader counterweight along the dovetail. This may mean not using a hex bolt, which is fine by me as long as the new screw/ bolt fits. Edited March 19, 2016 by Commanderfish
Davey-T
Probably UNC count the threads per inch by running your thumb nail down the thread. Lots of bolts of all descriptions on EBay, get stainless steel while you're at it. Dave
Owmuchonomy
Probably 1/4" 20 UNC same as a photo tripod.
Philip R
The thread size on my SkyWatcher dovetail bar are 1/4" x 20 UNC. Many of the DIY superstores stock metric threads only. I get my imperial fasteners from Westfield Fastners Ltd or Model Fixings Ltd. They do them with many different head types and metals too. I think the only imperial/metric thread that is 'universal' is a 3/8" BSW/10mm. Edited March 19, 2016 by Philip R
