Advice on Flat Frames please

Recommended Posts

I have tried to create a set of Flat Frames using a white pillow-case and a lamp with an energy saver bulb.  The result is a curious shade of green!   I suspect I have been  a numpty, presumably I need either a full spectum light source or sunlight.

Advice welcome

Mine come out with a blue tint i suspect because i have a baader lp filter with the same tint so bear this in mind.

And depends on your white balance setting aswell ie Daylight WB and flourescant or tungsten light will produce a color cast.

Dont think i have ever had fully white flats

Does it matter though thought that were about helping effectively with gradients and dust spots so white or blue from a dawn sky doesn't matter.

As long as its flat and even i don't think it does. I think maybe white is used as it allows more light transmission and thus shorter exposures. Doesnt mean the image will allways be pure white though
