I'm just glad i have a Syscan handset and the polar scope can go the way of the Dinosaur, glad you sort your problem out.....

My method is done this way

1: Once collimated the scope align any star to the cross hairs

2: Moving only the Latitude adjustment bolts align the star to the 6 'o, clock position on the larger circle.

3: Now rotate the RA axis unit the polar circle is centered over the star

4: Move the RA clock dial to the zero hour and lock the dial

5: Move the RA axis back to the home position and take a note for future ref of the hours and minutes

6: when polar Aligning set the polar time as reported by the hand set and then get the pole star into the smaller circle using the lat and azimuth bolts and you are good to go

I find this method petty accurate and always lines up when polar aligning to a print out in PolarFinder
