Bright Aurora visible from Perthshire...

Recommended Posts

I'm up at my folks at the mo having just gotten back from the Kielder Star Camp and spotted a tweet from Kielder Observatory about a visible aurora - there aren't many weather advantages to being up here at 55 degrees north but the aurora is one - the display was incredible but I had to come in as I started freezing (all the cold weather gear is in the wash :( )

Here's a quick snap taken from Crieff in Perthshire, looking north:

5 sec, f/4, ISO 6400, Canon 6D, 14mm Samyang..

I've enough files for a timelapse but that may need to wait a day or two whilst I catch up with sleep!!

Thank you folks... here's some more: :)

What started as a bright 'glow' to the north (well, it might have been more detailed but my exposures were too long)....

... turned into this and this....

All taken through a Canon 6D and a Sigma 24-105 lens at the 24mm end at f/4, exposures 15 seconds (in hindsight should have been 5-10 secs max...)
