M101 and M66 05-03-2016

Had a good night last night:

M101 Pinwheel Galaxy and M66 Leo Triplet

Both 20 x 180s Light, 20 Flats, PHD2 guiding using Altair GP-CAM, Nikon D3200 prime focus

I didn't notice the cover wasn't fully on so the darks were spoiled, so will have to do them again once the temp is down to -1C tonight. This will help the re-processing to reduce the noise and there are hot pixels in there. But I'm happy with the light frames.

Really nice images !!  They look fine to me considering no dark's, I'd be more than happy to get something like these

Thanks Chris, I need to add the darks so I can stretch the contrast a bit more. There is more data in there, but getting it out without the darks introduces too much noise.

I also need to invest in a light pollution filter as these were a little orange when I started.

Lovely images! I must get back to doing galaxies as I've been lured by nebulae. This is giving me a spurt!
