CCD temperatures

So I finally got it all working taking subs etc.Should I be running the camera as cool as it go?

Is there an optimum temp that works best?

I think it is a good idea to run somewhat less than flat out otherwise you will not be able to maintain regulation when the ambient temperature rises. I aim for 70-80% of full power.

I was running at 50% next time I'll go to 75%

I run mine at -15 the hope being in th summer it will still get that low so the set of Darks i have will be good for a year or more......

Depends on the make, my Atiks only reach -10 in the summer but  the QSI683 whizzes down -20 no problem.

Then set your temperature to -10 and make a full set of Darks while its cloudy.......

I run my Atik 460exm at -10c and my QHY8 pro at -20c. The chips are clean and I rarely use darks.

I had my SX Trius set to -35 a couple of nights ago and got to -28 deg. Will probably increase the cooling in what er laughingly call summer.

I run at - 10 so I can use the same darks year round.  It struggles to get any lower in the summer.  Atik314 & Atik460

I run all my Atik cameras at -10. It is impossible to get lower in the summer with any degree of repeatability. The Atik 11000 has a water cooling loop but I've never seen anything to put on to it to achieve water cooling- the thought of a leak is a bit off putting!
