RC6 balance issue

Recommended Posts

i was out last night and managed to get every thing running  smooth except my guiding. im convinced its a balance issue with the RC6 as i used ascom to PA.

with all the weight behind the mirror and the supplied dovetail getting balance is not possible.

just wondering what solutions there is.

ive looked at tube rings but i need 190ID and sky watcher only do 182mm and 235mm.

I've seen RC's with top rails, maybe you could mount a plate on the top, and put weight or kit right forward?

Or could you add weight to the front end of the existing dovetail?

Otherwise, rings like you say and a Losmandy plate for stiffness.

yes id still need tube rings but cant find any to suit.

Rings might(probably will) introduce flex, get a long bar, mount the scope at the front of the bar so there is plenty left to push through the mount to get balance.
