I may have a few screws loose, but ive never lost one.......yet i have a big biscuit tin full of all different types and sizes. I'm also not in the habit of randomly buying screws from my local DIY in the hope of one day using them for something. I must have inherited the tin of screws somewhere in the past.

Maybe all of your lost screws end up in my biscuit tin. Yes, that must be it.

I had a tab snap off a pipe clip and fall down the newly replaced turbo boost pipe on my Mondeo. Of course it carried on into a metal joining pipe taht wloudl ahve meant maajor effort to remove it. Luckily I was able to get two flexible pipes off and poke it out.

Wouldn't like to think what a 1/4" bit of springy metal wopudl have done if sucked into the vale/cylinder =:+0

You have reminded me of my first car(Mk 1 Escort), and the dreaded Motorcraft carb that needed blowing clean of muck - which I did with a compressed air cylinder.  The first time I did this I hadn't realized a previous owner had assembled a ball valve and bar upside down, so I clean missed that the ball valve (ball bearing) had gone down the carb throat...  yep, on engine restart I had a horrendous noise as it was bouncing between the piston and cylinder head; actually was quite lucky that it was embedding in the top of the piston (21 times) and managed to largely miss the valves.  Lesson learned - you bet, and replaced with a Zenith carb asap!

OWWWWW!

I fitted the Dual Weber off a Transit onto my Cortina to replace the standard Variable Venturi carb. With teh low ratio rear axle it was the fastest car in town up to 30mph. And a bit thirsty :-0
