Ioptron minitower 2

Recommended Posts

Usually I only have time for quick stargazing sessions so opt for easy grab and go set ups. However this evening I had plenty of time so I tried my minitower 2 for the first time for ages. I was very pleasantly surprised - easy to set up, tracked objects very well, found new objects comfortably and nice and stable. I have done a couple of upgrades including adding an adm saddle, a pier extension and adding a Teflon washer custom made by a chap in New Zealand. I need to use this more often.

I do not know whether improvements have been made in the last 2 years, but I found the clutch quite poor.

I also tried the Teflon washer, but found no difference.

Eventually I made a leather washer, which was an improvement.

Also hung some weight from the spreader, which improved stability.
