i have wanted to get back into sky watching for a while, now im in the market for a telescope.

after six weeks or so i am look at buying a Skywatcher Skyliner 250PX FlexTube GOTO.

my last telescope was a 4" Newtonian but that was a few years ago and it was dreadful :(.

I want the telescope for planetary and DSO,s, i am not into astrophotography ( but you never know :) )

there are a few dark sites not far from me so that helpful.

Looking forward to your advice

Terry

The 250 flex is very popular among members here and gets a lot of good feedback so guess your on to a good start.

In terms of dark skies it depends how much you want to lug stuff about. Dont forget its likely to be scope, tripod, powersource, eyepieces, coffeee, jaffa cakes!

But the Hoo peninsula isnt to bad, around Deangate has some nice dark areas. Or you could take a run to Isle of Sheppey and right down the bottom of Leysdown, if your target is East its great as it looks out over the North Sea so nice and dark.

Hi Terry and welcome to SGL, I am sure you will be delighted with the upgrade from your 4" Newtonian, to the 250PX Flexi tube Dob. DSO and many other objects await your observations, especially from a dark site. I am sure you will be more than pleased with the results, enjoy the forum :)
