Advise needed

I have a  skywatcher 12" dob goto and was thinking about linking up and using some sofTware via a laptop to view the night sky. 

Does anyone have any suggestions on how i should go about this or just use the synscan handset that come with the scope.

Stellarium can be used to control the mount from a laptop.
