Ive been a huge space junkie since a child and have decided to take the plunge and buy my first scope.

Looks like im going for the Skywatcher Star discovery 150P, great reviews, in my price range and the Goto capability is going to be great for the kids!

It's been mentioned previously but it's such a shame the Stockport Telescope and Binocular centre's showroom closed, they're still online through.

Anyway, I used to live reasonably close to Stockport (in Chorlton) and I remember going to the Wythenshawe park stargazers group (I think every Thursday). If they're still around you should visit them!

anywhere toward the Peak district is better than Stockport. I do reasonably from my back garden though as long as I am away as much as possible from local lights/windows etc.
