using a spare dslr with 400mm lens as autoguider

Can a spare DSLR be used for autoguiding?  I have a spare 400D that I can put a 400mm lens on piggy backed to my scope...perhaps I can put it to work?

I doubt it is possible. The 400D doesn't have a video output and in anycase I don't think it would work with a DSLR anyway.

DSLR's are not for guiding applications....

I use an ol' Zuiko 200mm telelens and an ATiK16 as an electronic finder on the C11 for spectroscopy.

Works very well for me.

This is not possible unless your guide software can download the images taken by the DSLR video function. Get a proper guide camera and save yourself a lot of hassle.
