Some galaxies in Leo

At last got a clear night after a few weeks. Took advantage to do a 5 hour long observing session. Viewed some galaxies in Leo towards the end. Thought I would share. Details in the images. All images taken live at the scope with no post processing.

Thanks Rob, Reggie and everyone for the likes.

Rob,

Yes these are with the 224. Despite the RGB matrix the 224 is very good galaxy imager due to its high IR sensitivity. Beyond 850nm the response of the RGB pixels converge which gives resolution similar to a mono sensor. In terms of resolution and speed these images match what I get with mono sensors.

Beautiful work!  I'm so happy that the spring galaxy season is approaching!  I stayed up late with my big Newt the other night and had a look at the western part of Leo before fleeing the cold :-)

2903 is one of those galaxies that's so bright you really wonder how Messier missed it....

Thanks Don. The gain was 150 and exposure was 20s. As I did not use a LP filter (for maximum IR sensitivity) I had to keep the gain below 200. Any setting above 200 causes a whiteout pretty quickly from my red/white zone location.

The final set of images that I posted in the Atik Infinity thread on CN were taken on the same evening.
