Suitable EP for C6 SCT for DSO

Recommended Posts

Do you have a 1.25" visual back and diagonal?

If so, your widest field of view will be with a 32mm Plossl or 24mm 68 degree afov eyepiece like a Maxvision or Televue Panoptic.

The 32mm could be useful to give you a slightly larger exit pupil at 3.2mm, but the 24mm would give 2.4mm which is around the optimum for DSO contrast.

Either option will give you just over 1 degree actual field of view.

From what I've just read, the baffle tube on the C6 is only 25mm diameter, which means anything bigger than this will show signs of vignetting. I would stick with 1.25" eyepieces as you won't gain much going to 2" but they are considerably more expensive.

Plossls are normally around 50 or 52 degrees afov, the Televue 32mm Plossl is 50 degrees. It's the 40mm which is only 43 degrees I believe.
