Stellarium doesn't seem to show any specifically around Bootes.

Do you mean between Bootes and Leo? Closer to Leo/Denbola

Sort of in the empty space behind Denbola?

If so they are part of the Virgo super cluster.

By eye you see none, binoculars show about 10, small scope 20, bigger scope lots and lots.

Easy way to tick off about 5 or 6 Messier objects. Called cheating a bit. :eek: :eek: :eek:

Cheating?

It isn't the seeing them that is the challenge. The hard part is working out which is which!

I find visual observing of galaxies difficult under my light polluted skies. I gave up trying to find them-never mind see them!

I almost exclusively use a CCD camera & try & capture them photographically. I'm not very successful yet but have had reasonable success with the brighter one like M31, 81 & 82.
