A little 'smoke ring'

Still very low in the East at this time of the year , well at a reasonable hour anyway  , so looking through quite a thick 'chunk' of atmosphere, but I thought I'd try and grab my first M57 for this year.

Given that the sky was also a little hazy, I was quite surprised to get a reasonable result.

12" LX200R at f/6.3 (if my spacing calcualtion was correct :cat: ), and 20x120 sec subs with the SXVF-H9C.

Dave, the conditions under which you got this result have not done it any harm as far as I see it.

It looks a textbook M57 to me, and as good as I have seen anywhere.

A great picture of a fine planetary nebula.

Ron.
