Not sure if anyone has mentioned this.

A Minus Violet (fringe killer) filter can be used if the colour fringe is a problem...

With owning an ST80 the biggest improvement to reducing CA on very bright planets was using my own high powered eyepiece.

Don't forget to post about your first viewing session :)

If you haven't done so already, download Stellarium, it's a free planetarium program that is highly recommended by many people on this forum. Also, start buying books - Turn Left at Orion and Norton's Star Atlas are my favourites, both readily available from Amazon.

You do realise that now you have bought the 'scope, there will be cloudy nights for the next 6 months....

Haha! I've already looked up the astronomy/night sky weather forecast for post Christmas (31st is showing as excellent for stargazing... I never liked Auld Lang Syne anyway!)

Will get those books ordered and Stellarium downloaded - Thanks.

I'm eagerly awaiting the first viewing session... Will definitely share!

I don't trust weather forecasts even for the same day. There are two I 'use', AccuWeather http://www.accuweather.com/en/gb/kingston-upon-hull/hu1-2/astronomy-weather/327337 and Clear Outside http://clearoutside.com/forecast/53.68/-0.45  For the Monday just gone, one stated that I can expect clear skies from 6pm to midnight, the other said almost total cloud cover   As it was, it was clear for a while then started clouding over from about 8pm.

Best thing to do is stick your head out of the door and look up :clouds1:

Merry Christmas :icon_bigsmurf:
