hello all weve just got a telescope been interested in it for years so when my son wanted one for xmas I couldn't resist got him celestron 127 eq so will need all of your help as a complete newbie.  cheers

Hi there dorada and welcome to SGL.

The Celestron 127 eq is a good scope - be sure to check out how to polar align it (it's not too bad once you've done it a few times). There is plenty of advice about that on the site and across the net.

You may also need some help with sky navigation - when I started out I downloaded Stellarium (free planetarium software) to help me learn the night sky, it helped my loads!

Anyway, enjoy the new scope and as laudropb said, ask all the questions you need to.

Hi Dorado and welcome to SGL, you will find plenty of help from this friendly forum, just ask your question in the relative section to which it refers, Enjoy your Sons new scope  at Christmas, weather permitting, it has been a real pain of late, enjoy the forum :)
