At 14mm PA won't matter. At 500mm it will with longer exposures, but without guiding you might need to drift align - easier with computer  control. What sort of targets did you have in mind?

The ST80 is cheap and cheerful. Focuser is not 2" so can't use a field flatter. It's not really an imaging scope and is only an achromat. People mostly use them as guide scopes.

Do get a copy of  'Making Every Photon Count' from the forum sponsors. The dark arts are a bottomless pit....
