Gen 1 Night vision, anyone use? Finding faintest of stars.

Recommended Posts

Although technically a monocular, I picked up an inexpensive pair for finding owls for $50.  Never thought of using them to quickly acquire stars,  but tonight the dog was upset over critter lurking around so I started scanning through window.  I just have standard Gen I without turning on built in infrared light (just bounces off windows anyway) and wow, what a view of the night sky.  Even faintest stars pop against NV green sky.  Not sure if its bad for the goggles or not, guess I'll find out.  Curious if anyone else has used them for star gazing or quickly locating objects? And if its bad for them or not.
