That main flange also screws onto the telescope tube but it has a lot of threads, so try screwing it on further. Yes, I sent my scope off to have it done up properly, but there has been a delay in getting it powder coated. Still waiting. I have a Tal 100 as well so it's not like I'm scopeless, and some nice Pentax 12x50s which I got to use for the first night last night, albeit very briefly.

i tried it and you are exactly right, the whole thing unscrews from the tube. goodbye gaffer tape
