Using a planisphere...

hi guys 

im wondering if y'all can help me. i brought a book called DK planisphere and starfinder.

i has a planishphere included for the latitude of 55 degrees North. i live in new zealand and the description when i brought it said it could be used anywhere in the world. only thing is i don't know how to use the planisphere. i have watchedd a few you tube clips as well but i still dont get it.

i have attached a picture of it as well

any help would be much appreciated

Does the front flip over? With southern hemisphere printed on the back?

no it doesn't. im gonna presume that its for the northern hemiphere?

It certainly won't be very useful. There is one of these in a local store. I'll have a look at it Thursday or Friday and see what I can make of it.

Nope, it'd need the stars for the southern hemisphere printed on it!

You could lie it on the ground and imagine what stars you'd see if you lived in Britain?

You can make your own planisphere suitable for you by following the steps in the link. It's simple and fun too.

It is a Northern Hemsiphere planisphere.....so not much use in NZ.

There are Southern Hemisphere versions but I guess that does not help you at present. I bought mine from a local book store when I lived in Perth WA. But you can buy online
