What Time is it around the Solar System? - Individual Planetary Times

Recommended Posts

Time slows down the closer it is to a large gravitational field, and time also slows down the faster you travel.

So with each planet in our Solar System, being a different orbital distance from the Sun ( a large gravitational field ), having a different orbital velocity, and having a different mass and gravity of its own,.......is time different on every planet in our Solar System?

Does this have any affect on the operation of space and planetary probes at great distances from the Earth, other than the delay in communications due to the distance?

Great question. I am sure there must be a slight difference, perhaps more apparent if near Jupiter or any of the large gas giants out there, but whether this is enough to cause any problem or alteration for space craft passing by I am not sure. Is there a NASA scientist in the house? Hehe! ;)
