M81 + M82

I captured these on 3rd April but Registax seemed to cause me problems with it.

However after a little playing I think I have managed to bring out some of the detail.

The Details:

Explorer 200

HEQ5

10 subs @ 60 seconds each

ISO 800

Unguided

I think it could be a lot better, as the spiral arms are just not coming through. I think I need more subs to get the best of this and my processing is not great.

For 10 minutes you should be happy with that - great shot. Give it some more time and you're there because you've got it all sussed.

I am happy with M82 but just wish I had more structure in M81.

Thats a fine start beamer, all it needs is lots more subs - ideally 1 hour plus and more detail will come.

For ten minutes of capture, thats a superb result. To get the wispy bits you will need a lot more time on this. The arms are very faint so it takes a long time to differentiate them from the background. Great shot ATM though.

That's a lot of detail, for such a short exposure - you should be pleased with it!
