Stiff Altair Sabre Alt-AZ mount.

Hi,

I have this beautifully made Mount. At Room temperature - once balanced properly - it is wonderfully smooth in both directions.

However, at it cools down during the night, in my area it now goes down to around 8 degrees Celcius, it stiffens considerably, especially the initial force required to move the scope from when it has been standing in the same position for a while.

What could it be? The grease used in the Mount?

Or something else, and can it be mitigated?
