SGL XI Chit Chat

I am a pitch 46, and it looks like there is a big line of trees on the left. Is this going to ruin my view in that direction, or is it small enough to see over? Also why are there 2 46s - a red one and one between 42 and 51?

Hi Joe

The trees are not that dense or tall - you'll be fine :)

Not sure what you mean about 2 46's?

Well, I have just booked my first ever star party.  As I don't know the site at all I have left it to the wonderful administrators to choose my pitch.  Grovel, grovel.  The Dob fits nicely on the spare bed in the tin snail.

This is my first star party too.  Am getting excited at the idea already.

Looks like we will have a bit of Lunar action going on this year...

Early evening Lunar is a lovely way to start an observing/imaging session

We can all use Steve's 20 inch to look at the moon. It gave lovely views of Jupiter if I recall last year.

Josh is looking forward to the café

Maybe we could see the apollo landing sites with it. (joke: for those that think I'm serious, you can't see that much detail with anything earth based)

You can see the areas  though, which is interesting.

Just booked up for Wednesday to Sunday :).  All I need to do now is work out when to tell the wife; probably go for some time on the drive up on the afternoon of the 9th March .

If there are any tent pitches left I think  I will book a few days.  I have booked up for Kielder tomorrow but have come down with illness and can't go. It might be an idea to use the petrol money I would have spent to book SGLXI if there are spaces still available. I could put some faces to the user names too!

Is there an update of the pitch plan available as I've booked but it's not yet showing. Cheers, Bob

Just throw Jaffa cakes and beer in to keep us under control [emoji12][emoji12]

Makes a note: bring plenty of beer and Jaffa cakes.

Don't worry, they just quarantine the mob in one place to keep everyone safe. Loads of other scopes there. Don't tell them but I'll be bringing a few fracs too :)

I just had an mental image appear in my mind, much like an amarda.   Of one of those dobs being escorted by a squadron of fracs.   Think I've lost it completely now.

IIRC Vodka works better...

Adding some toffee vodka to the list.  Wouldn't have thought about that one.

Chaps, I realise I'm one of the worst offenders here, but can we move chit chat over to the SGL11 general chit chat thread and leave this one clear for pitch allocations, otherwise I'll get my knees caned by Admin [emoji16][emoji31][emoji24]

This one:

Cheers!

The one in the 1st post in this thread is kept updated:

http://stargazerslounge.com/topic/254767-sgl-xi-pitch-allocations/

Looks like you are on there now Bob

For some bizarre reason, the sheet does not seem to update in Tapatalk and I'm not sure it did for me on the mobile version either. I had to go into the full site to see the updated copy, don't know why but that might explain why some people are not seeing the updates.

EDIT Clearing the cache on Tapatalk fixed that problem

That might explain it - this new learning amazes me, Sir Bedevere
