Leaving the scope outside?

Recommended Posts

Is it a bad idea?

Due to limited storage space I've been leaving the scope setup outside in the garden, with the tube pointing towards the ground and a cover over the whole thing.

My eye pieces, rigel and finder scope are all brought inside.

Anything I should be aware of or consider?

You may get some creepy crawlies in it. And it needs an all weather cover (expensive) which is well ventilated. Do you not have a shed or a garage or something? It would be preferable to bring indoors unless you have an observatory. But it's not exactly the largest scope - actually it's one of the smaller ones and would fit nicely in the bottom of a wardrobe. Hth :)
