Well after being without a scope for a few yrs now, I have finally managed to grab a bargain on ABS.

A Skywatcher 200P Dobsonian with the following mods:

Lazy Susan bearing mod to ensure smooth azimuth rotation.

High quality castors fitted to the base for easy manoeuvrability

Levelling feet fitted to provide a stable base

Wixey angle gauge to provide accurate altitude reading.

Gemrad angle gauge and rotational encoder to provide accurate azimuth reading. This includes drilled bolt, aluminium and acrylic blocks etc

Also includes the 25mm and 10mm Skywatcher eyepieces, 9x50 straight through finder and a Telrad base fitted to scope.

Here are a few pics

Nice scope, you will enjoy the experience, especially from darker sites, so don't be too alarmed if/when M31 is just a misty blob  from your normal,   street lit observatory (garden) so   get to a dark site and be prepared?

Just my opinion on the mods, I would still be careful rolling the scope about  on its castors, that could  upset the collimation of the scope, just be careful when moving it. I still have strength and ability to lift mine to wherever I need to place it.

I have also  considered an index/compass  of sorts  for RA DEC, but it would not get used, it would just be detail?  I just aim and view.

I had no reasons not to use a lazy-susan, except that my scope glides without one.

Other than that, your ready to go. I changed the SW 10mm for my Starguider 8mm, the rest is history.

Enjoy Enjoy Enjoy your new toy!

Thanks guys. Can't wait for it to go dark. Just wish it would hurry up lol. I'm hoping to be able to show the misses some wonderful treasures tonight.

With regards to the wheels, I won't be using then that much to be honest. My back garden is all grass.
