Kelling Heath 26/08/2015

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I walked into the spare room and wasn't too happy with the amount of dust on my Skyliner 200p DOB and decided it was time to take her out.

I live about 23 miles away from Kelling Heath (Norwich City) and decided to drive out to Kelling in search of Dark skies. Rather than go to the camp site where the star parties take place, I went to the actual heathland in kelling also known as Kelling Heath. A friend of mine is into taking pictures of the night sky so he came along with his DSLR.

The Plan was to view Saturn and to take a look at the moon too, however we got there a little later than expected and Saturn had just dipped out of view. I still got a good look at the Moon, my friend had his first look through a telescope and was amazed at the detail!

Not the most exciting report but it was my first proper outing of the year so I was glad to get back out there!

Looking for the 2" low profile extension tube that is provided with most of the skywatcher scopes. I have a used 190MN that didn't come with the extension tube and need it to get accurate focus.

I believe Orion scopes may have one too.

The weights from my NEQ6 are beginning to look scruffy.
Is there a good colour match car type spray that anyone would recommend for sprucing them up.

Recently got sky watcher skyliner 200P and trying to get started with it. I wanted to use it for terrestrial (sea) views as well. I was expecting the image to be upside down but instead it is angled/sideways. I'm not sure if there is something wrong with scope or I need to tweak anything to get it right? Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Posting in this forum after too long!
One of the first attempts at taking photos of the moon.
All photos taken using skywatcher 90mm refractor with eq2 mount, Nikon DSLR and 2x Barlow here and there.
      No exposure.
      Basic editing in cellphone.
      Thank you! Suggestions highly appreciated!
